Frequently asked questions
What can I fax?
A PDF, up to 15MB and 50 pages. Other file types aren't currently supported.
Where can I send a fax?
US and Canada fax numbers only.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no password, and no subscription — just the one fax you need to send.
When am I charged?
Your card is authorized when you pay, but only actually charged after your fax is confirmed delivered to the destination fax system.
What if my fax doesn't go through?
Transient failures (a busy line, no answer) are retried automatically, up to 3 total attempts. If it still can't be delivered — whether after retrying or because of a permanent problem like an invalid number — the card authorization is released, or a captured charge is refunded. You do not ultimately pay for an undelivered fax.
Is my file kept after it's sent?
The PDF is deleted from our storage after delivery, after payment is resolved following a failed delivery, or about 2 hours if you never finish paying. A limited transaction record and document fingerprint remain for support, fraud prevention, accounting, and payment disputes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Will I know when it's delivered?
Yes. We send an email when delivery is confirmed or when all delivery attempts have failed.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery timing depends on the recipient's fax line. Busy or unanswered lines may be retried automatically, so some faxes take longer than others.
Can I receive faxes?
No. FaxStamp currently sends outbound faxes only.
Can I cancel after authorizing payment?
Transmission starts automatically after payment authorization, so a fax generally can't be canceled once that process begins.
Does FaxStamp add a cover page?
No. FaxStamp sends the PDF you upload without adding a cover page.
Is FaxStamp HIPAA compliant?
No. FaxStamp is a general-purpose fax service and isn't designed or certified for regulated health information workflows.
Does delivery confirmation mean someone read the document?
No — it confirms the fax reached the destination fax system, not that a specific person has read it.
